siddhānta

Dictionary Definition: 

siddhânta m. established end, final end or aim or purpose (cf. sama-s○), (cf. rāddhânta), demonstrated conclusion of an argument (or the 4th member of a syllogism following on the refutation of the pūrva-pakṣa, q.v.), settled opinion or doctrine, dogma, axiom, received or admitted truth (of four kinds, See sarva-tantra-s○?, prati-tantra-s○, adhikaraṇa-s○, abhyupagama-s○) MBh.
