This is a Hinduized version of the Polish name Mieczyslaw Demetriusz Sudowski (b. 1897 in Warsaw Poland). At first, in around 1945, he called himself Michael Sadau. After staying with Sri Ramana Maharshi in 1949, he changed his name to Mouni Sadhu. He died in 1971. Despite his interest in Tarot cards, Hindu mysticism and psychedelics, he seems to have remained a Catholic his entire life.
