One of the most famous of Tibetan doctors and medical educators in the early half of the 20th century.
Dungkar Rinpoche's dictionary, pp. 447-448, has an interesting biographical sketch. It says he accompanied Bshad Sgra Blon chen to the Simla Convention, and amazed the foreign doctors with his ability to treat difficult cases. In 1917, the 13th Dalai Lama founded the Lha sa Sman rtsis 'Gro phan gling and appointed him as its head.
