First of nine in the Gnas phu incarnation lineage in Bhutan. He was a gter ston. His biography, with biographies of his later incarnations, has been placed on the internet ("Neyphug Thegchen Tsemo Monastery" website: http://www.neyphug.com). The others were: 2nd Zhabs drung Gsang sngags rgyal mtshan (1600-1661), 3rd Mthu chen ngag dbang padma rgyal mtshan (d. 1716), 4th Gsang bdag Nus ldan rdo rje, 5th Kun bzang rin chen (aka Kun dga' rnam rgyal), 6th Rje Bsod nams rgyal mtshan (aka Yon tan rgyal mtshan & Shes rab rgyal mtshan), 7th Rnam grol rdo rje, 8th Sangs rgyas rdo rje (1907-1975), 9th Ngag dbang sher grub chos kyi nyi ma (b. 1980).
