A literary figure associated with Bla brang Monastery, Amdo, Gangs nyi being his pen name (actual name "Kunga Tsayang" or Kun dga' tshangs dbyangs), he was arrested on March 17, 2009. He spent much of his time in environmental activism, and wrote some pointed political essays.
