Bibliography:

  • Bka' bstan 'gyur gyi dkar chag rnam par dbye ba la log rtog kun sel. Composed in 1523.
    • Contained in: The Collected Works (gsung 'bum) of Rgyal dbang Kun dga' rin chen (1475-1527), Drikung Kagyu Publications (Delhi 2003), vol. 3, pp. 493-521. On p. 499 he mentions the scriptural collections kept in Snar thang, Zha lu and Tshal. On p. 501 he differs with Bu ston's and later peoples' way of arranging the Tanjur. According to [them] it should follow the grades of beings and the levels of turnings of the Wheel of Dharma (compare the view stated on p. 516, according to which the four other sciences should come first, and the Lower Vehicle should come before the Higher Vehicle... The author seems to hold that the order of the Three Precious ought to be followed, with Buddha[hood] first, not last.). P. 502: [Bu ston and/or later persons] based himself/themselves on the Zha lu copy. P. 515: The present copy of the Kanjur and Tanjur was based on the Snar thang, with nothing added or subtracted (and Snar thang was based on the indices by Bcom ldan rig ral and Thar pa Lo tsā ba). Kun dga' rin chen mentions the polemical works of the past, those by Lha Bla ma Ye shes 'od, Lo tsā ba Rin chen bzang po, Khri btsun Zhi ba 'od, and 'Gos Khug pa Lhas btsas (but note that he fails to mention other polemics, such as that by Bu ston). P. 520: The Kanjur was done in blue [paper] ornamented with gold and silver, with 100 volumes and an added volume of mantras making 101. Likewise the Tanjur, which was in 107 large volumes, with an added volume in Lantsa script making 108. "For details, look in the Dkar chag chen mo."
