Abdul Alhazred

  • An 8th-century Yemeni traveler, his work Al Azif was written in around 730 in Damascus. Alicia Uslane & J.P. Ouellette, Al Azif, located at the website for Miskatonic University. "During the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950, the alleged original remains of the Al Azif of Abdul Alhazred were smuggled out of Tibet to India and, eventually, to the United States where, in 1982, it found its way to the Miskatonic University Library. " I'll have to admit that they had me going for awhile until I realized that Abdul Alhazred is the self-awarded penname of H.P. Lovecraft. The original manuscript, which after all never existed, had a very tortuous history. Indeed. Beware. Perhaps this entry was covertly interpolated by the Campus Crusade for Cthulhu.
