Tôh. no. 3138. The author was a 'Tokharian.' Tibetan writers have often 'corrupted' (or creatively reinterpreted) the name in forms like Nor ban rakshi ta, Nai ban rakshi ta, etc. According to Gu ru Chos dbang, he is said to have collected together the scriptures scattered in Tho gar country (this being part of a pro-gter ma argument, which was repeated later on by still others).

Both prose and verse versions of this work are preserved in an extracanonical source. See 'Brug chen IV Padma dkar po, ed., Rten 'brel yig rnying, "reproduced from a rare manuscript collection from Bhutan," Sungrab Nyamso Gyunphel Parkhang (Tashijong 1985), pp. 322-336. In the table of contents of the volume, the author's name is spelled Nai ban rakṣi ta. The verse version, on pp. 322-328, seems to correspond to Tôh. no. 519 (see above), while the prose version, with the title Rten cing 'brel bar 'byung ba'i cho ga zhib mo (no Sanskrit given), has the colophon, together with a lineage account: tho gar yul nas skyes gyur pa // dge slong nai ban rakshi tas // cho ga bzang po tshul bzhin du // rab tu 'bad nas bshad pa yin // rten cing 'brel bar 'byung ba'i cho ga zhib mo nai ban rakshi ta mkhan pos mdzad pa'o // // 'di'i brgyud pa ni / dge bshes gling (gtsang pa yin) / dge bshes gnyags (seng ge grags) / dge bshes zhang bye ma lha khang pa (bsod nams ye shes) / slob dpon spa shong (bsod nams skyabs).
