Guṇadatta (Yon tan byin)

Dictionary Definition:

  • Kuijp, Earliest, p. 172. Author of a now lost commentary on Nāgārjuna's Mūlamadhyamaka. Tucci reconstructs the name from Chinese as Śrīdatta, but this is not correct. The 'Phang thang ma catalog lists a study of the Vajracchedikā by Yon tan byin. He must be dated to around middle of the second half of the 7th century at the latest.
