Dictionary Definition: 

  • An Indian monk, native to Kashmir, who arrived in China in 1004. He was responsible for the Chinese translation of the Hevajra Tantra. Sen, Revival, pp. 46, 54.
  • Ruth Dunnell, The Great State of White and High: Buddhism and State Formation in Eleventh-Century Xia, University of Hawai'i Press (Honolulu 1996), p. 30. He arrived in Kaifeng from northern India in 1004. Died in 1058.
