A teacher at Vikramaśīla, he set out for China to meet Mañjuśrī. He was later renamed Jñānaśrīmitra. Shakya, Self-Arisen, pp. 48-52, 174. See also the article about him in Dhīḥ, vol. 47 (2009), which says he later became known to the world as Jñānaśrīmitra.
