Despite the Indian name, this refers to the apprentice (mchan bu) translator under Thon mi Sambhoṭa, in time of Srong btsan sgam po. Red Annals, p. 35. It seems rather suspicious, but still another apprentice's name is given: Lha lung Rdo rje dpal (which looks very much like Lha lung Dpal gyi rdo rje, the assassin of Glang dar ma).
Rechung, TM, p. 15. Translator of the Sman dpyad chen mo from Chinese.
